JOHOR BARU: Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has urged all civil servants to live within their means and avoid participating in corrupt activities. The Johor Ruler stated that civil servants who flaunt a lifestyle that can’t be reasonably explained due to corruption will not be able to escape investigation. He also warned that civil servants are being observed, and those who lead extravagant lifestyles will raise suspicion.
To prevent the acquisition of “extraordinary properties,” Sultan Ibrahim believes that public service workers should declare their assets annually. He also suggested that the government should review the low salaries of certain civil servants, particularly those living in urban areas, in order to alleviate their financial stress.
Sultan Ibrahim issued a decree stating that civil servants in Johor must prioritize integrity to regain the trust of the people. This declaration comes following an ongoing investigation by Bukit Aman’s integrity and standards compliance department into a senior police officer who owns two Rolex watches.
Initial findings indicate that the police officer purchased the luxury watches using money provided by his mother and late father, who was a successful businessman.
