The Selangor Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) has successfully rescued a clouded leopard that is thought to have been injured after being hit by a motorcycle on Wednesday (Dec 13).
According to a statement by Selangor Perhilitan on Saturday (Dec 16), the Semenyih Fire and Rescue station alerted them to the incident.
The statement also mentioned that Perhilitan personnel, with the assistance of firemen, were able to rescue the 30kg female clouded leopard.
Perhilitan stated, “After further examination, we found that the clouded leopard had minor surface injuries as well as an injury to its jaw.”
The animal was placed in a transport cage and transported to the National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Sungkai, Perak, for additional medical treatment.
It was also emphasized by Perhilitan that clouded leopards are a fully protected species under Schedule Two of the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 and are classified as “vulnerable” on the IUCN Red List of threatened species.
