In Melaka, the God of Prosperity brought joy to elderly and underprivileged celebrants at a Chinese New Year event in Kampung Morten.
The event was held at the service center of Kota Laksamana assemblyman Low Chee Leong, who aimed to spread festive cheer among the underprivileged community.
At the event on Saturday (Feb 3), Low also provided food and financial assistance to 50 people.
He recounted that some of the attendees mentioned that they only had RM100 in their pockets to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year.
Additionally, an elderly childless couple expressed a desire to join Low’s family for the reunion dinner on the eve of the festival.
Low stated that he would visit welfare homes in his constituency to assess their needs and offer assistance if necessary.
He also mentioned that a group reunion dinner has been planned for families who have been struggling financially, providing them an opportunity to celebrate the festive season in a contented manner.
