PETALING JAYA: The government will be implementing price controls for certain food products from Feb 6 to 14 in light of the upcoming Chinese New Year (CNY) festivities.
The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living has announced that a price control scheme will be enforced on 11 food products during this period.
These products include various seafood, pork-related items, as well as imported vegetables and root vegetables, such as garlic, ginger, and radishes.
Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali stated that the maximum price control scheme for CNY will be carried out in accordance with the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
He also assured that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will continue to monitor the situation to ensure an adequate supply of the listed food products.

Armizan emphasized that enforcement officers will be conducting checks and monitoring prices at various locations to ensure compliance with the price control scheme.
Traders are warned that they may face severe penalties if they fail to comply with the price controls as specified in the Act.
