ROSE Charities and Quantum Metal Sdn Bhd have distributed 1,000 gift hampers as part of the 1,000 Smiles and Cheers programme in Penang, aiming to alleviate the burden of the less fortunate.
The luncheon, attended by Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, saw the final batches of hampers being given out to eight charities.
Datuk Lawrence Cheah, president of Rose Charities Malaysia, stated in his speech that the programme represents compassion and unity and emphasized the need for continuous effort and collaboration in the journey towards a more equitable society.
“Rose Charities will continue its mission to empower the vulnerable within our community.
“Let us embrace empathy and kindness so that, together, we can uplift our community,” he added.
Cheah expressed his gratitude to all sponsors and donors, specifically acknowledging the generous contribution of Quantum Metal founder and chairman Datuk Lim Khong Soon.
In his speech, Lim expressed hope that both small and large contributions would have a positive impact on the recipients’ lives.
Dr Aishah Bee Abdullah, chairman of Persatuan Kebajikan Masyarakat Insan Pulau Pinang, expressed gratitude for being chosen as a beneficiary for the first time, stating that the association provides financial assistance and food supplies to single parents, students, and those in the B40 category during festive occasions.
“We also sponsor back-to-school items for needy children,” Aishah added.
