A large commotion occurred at a well-known theme park in Ayer Keroh, Melaka after a big crowd took advantage of the one-day free entrance offered by the state government.
Melaka Tengah OCPD Christopher Patit stated that the congestion at the entrance of the theme park led to the incident between 10.30am and 11am on Tuesday (Feb 20).
He mentioned that the crowd began pushing each other to gain entry into the theme park which resulted in verbal altercations between the visitors.
“However, the theme park’s management team was able to calm the situation and police also sent officers to the site to prevent any untoward incidents,” he said on Tuesday.
CEO of Melaka Wonderland Theme Park Seow Cheng Swee shared that almost 7,000 visitors were registered from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday.
“This is the first time we have handled such a massive amount of people in a single day,” he added.
Seow mentioned that his staff managed to control the situation and ensure that everyone was able to enter.
The state government has waived entrance fees to 10 tourist attractions, and green fees for five golf clubs were also waived on Feb 20 to commemorate the Declaration of Independence of the Federation of Malaya.
