KUALA LUMPUR: The Communications and Digital Ministry is currently developing a programme to honor the late former deputy prime minister, Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman, in conjunction with National Month this year, according to Fahmi Fadzil, the Communications and Digital Minister. The programme is set to take place at the Sultan Sulaiman Club on August 2 and aims to educate the younger generation about Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman’s significant contributions to the country’s development.

“It is not just about commemorating him, but also recognizing his service and dedication in nation-building alongside other great figures of our homeland,” Fahmi stated. Speaking as a guest on the “Ruang Bicara” programme on Bernama TV, he expressed the hope that this tribute would remind the younger generation of the hard work put forth by numerous individuals for the country’s progress.

The theme for this year’s National Month is “Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan” (Determination for Unity, Fulfilling Hope), Fahmi highlighted the importance of emphasizing unity and stability to foster a sense of togetherness in society. He further explained that the phrase “fulfilling hope” refers to the aspirations, commitment, and determination of the people. In the context of independence and the formation of Malaysia, Fahmi emphasized that every ordinary citizen has a role to play in fulfilling the hope behind the country’s establishment.

In conjunction with the launch of National Month and the Flying of the Jalur Gemilang, a variety of exciting programs have been planned. The Azlan Shah Roundabout in Meru Raya, Ipoh, Perak, will host the launch on July 16, followed by the National Day celebration on August 31 at Dataran Putrajaya. Additionally, the Malaysia Day celebration will take place in Kuching, Sarawak, on September 16. – Bernama
