KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Services Asia (DSA) and National Security (Natsec) Asia 2024 exhibitions, scheduled for May 6 to 9, are set to see contracts and memorandums of understanding worth over RM5 billion being signed. DSA 2024 executive director Nadzeem Abdul Rahman mentioned that numerous contracts have been identified for signing on the third day of the exhibition, involving the Home Ministry and the Defence Ministry. He stated that the value of these contracts has almost reached RM5 billion and there are more contracts to be finalized by the two ministries before the start of DSA and NATSEC Asia 2024, potentially increasing the total contract value.

During the 17th edition of DSA and Natsec Asia two years ago, the Ministry of Defence signed 54 defence contracts and memorandums of understanding totaling RM4.6 billion, while the Home Ministry signed one memorandum of understanding and eight contracts worth RM2.596 billion. The upcoming 18th edition of DSA and Natsec Asia 2024 is scheduled to be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

Nadzeem highlighted that several side events will be taking place, including the DSA and Natsec Asia Lab, Future Forces segment, DSA and Natsec Asia TV, and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), Drone, and Robotics Pavilion. The DSA and Natsec Asia Lab will provide opportunities for small enterprises and startups to showcase their innovations, products, and services. The Future Forces segment aims to revolutionize modern warfare by integrating technology and focusing on net-centric warfare, stealth, and precision.

This platform will include interviews with industry leaders and delegations. Additionally, the UAV, Drone, and Robotics Pavilion is a joint venture with the National Aerospace Industry Corporation (NAICO) Malaysia to showcase local companies’ capabilities and innovations in drone technology, AI, and robotics within the defence and security sector.

Nadzeem also mentioned other events such as technical presentations, product demos, forums, conferences, and seminars that will take place during the exhibition. He expressed hope that the local defence and security industry will benefit from the exhibition, allowing them to showcase their potential to the international market. He emphasized that DSA and Natsec Asia 2024 could be a starting point for innovation and long-term cooperation in addressing current and future security challenges. – Bernama
