The police are a step closer to identifying the skeletal remains found along Jalan Kebun in Klang after some similarities were found with a person that had previously been reported missing.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan stated that there was a possibility that the remains found on Aug 27 belonged to a man who had been reported missing in June.
“The post-mortem results revealed that the victim was in his 30s, which matches the age of the missing person,” he said.
Comm Hussein added that although they believe the two cases are linked, a DNA test is required to confirm whether the body belongs to the missing person.
He informed reporters that the DNA test will take approximately two weeks to complete and further investigations will be carried out to determine if any criminal elements were involved.
In an unrelated matter, Comm Hussein informed that disciplinary action has been initiated against a police sergeant who has been accused of engaging in close proximity (khalwat).
He mentioned that investigations are ongoing as the case involves another party, and the policeman in question has also filed a report claiming defamation.
“Any officer or rank and file policemen found engaging in activities that could tarnish the reputation of the police force will face consequences according to the rules of conduct for public servants,” he stated, highlighting that this could include a departmental transfer, demotion, or termination.
Regarding the disposal of case items, Comm Hussein disclosed that these items were related to eight cases, one of which involved illegal cryptocurrency mining.
Out of the eight cases, six have been charged in court, while the Deputy Public Prosecutor has labeled two as no further action (NFA).
All the items had an estimated value of RM216,318.26.
