KUALA LUMPUR: Police have reported that one individual involved in the gang assault and rape of a 26-year-old woman in Wangsa Maju captured the attack on a video recording.
Wangsa Maju Superintendent, Ashari Abu Samah, stated that five men are believed to be responsible for the crime that took place on August 30.
According to the officer, “The victim was awakened after being restrained and silenced by five men. During the incident, one of the suspects engaged in rape while another filmed the assault.”
On September 2, at approximately 9:30 PM, law enforcement arrested a 29-year-old male outside a restaurant on Jalan Rampai Niaga 5 in Wangsa Maju. The suspect is currently being detained until September 8,” Ashari confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday (September 5).
The arrested individual has been identified as the victim’s brother-in-law.
Supt Ashari explained that the suspects were able to gain access to the victim’s home because the brother-in-law had previously instructed her to leave the door unlocked.
Furthermore, it has been discovered that the brother-in-law owed money to one of the other suspects who still remain at large, Ashari revealed.
Law enforcement is currently conducting investigations to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects.
