Bukit Aman is conducting an investigation into a Facebook user named “Iman Mustaqim” for a post that potentially incites insult or disloyalty towards Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain stated that the department’s Special Investigation Unit (USJT) is looking into the alleged offense under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.
“We are also investigating the case under Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998. The Facebook uploaded the post on Monday (Aug 28),” he stated in a release.
Comm Mohd Shuhaily advised the public not to speculate on the issue or share incorrect information that could disrupt the investigation.
“We are urging the public to be responsible social media users. Refrain from making comments on race, religion, and royalty (3R), as it could disturb peace and harmony,” he added.
