KUALA LUMPUR: The police are currently investigating a situation where an Islamic prayer was recited during an event in which individuals of different faiths also participated in prayer.
The Kuala Lumpur police chief, Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid, disclosed that a report was filed concerning the matter on August 22.
He further stated, “Nonetheless, the investigation itself is being undertaken by the Bukit Aman CID Special Investigation Unit (USJT).” This announcement was made during a press conference at the KL police headquarters on Friday (August 25).
He cautioned the public against engaging in speculation regarding the case until the investigation reaches a conclusion, emphasizing that such speculation can potentially disrupt peace and public order.
It was revealed that the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) has initiated its own investigation in order to confirm whether the activity contravened Islamic teachings or any relevant “fatwa”.
A video capturing the incident recently went viral on Facebook.
In relation to a separate issue, Comm Allaudeen addressed Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) actions taken against the organizers of an event where women were seen belly dancing in revealing attire at Bukit Bintang. The video of this incident also went viral recently.
He stated, “DBKL has responded by shutting down the establishment.”
