JITRA: Police have apprehended a husband and wife duo and confiscated drugs suspected to be Syabu, weighing more than 8.5kg and valued at approximately RM297,500 in Changlun, near this location, on October 18.
Mohd Taufik Maidin, the Chief of the Kedah Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), stated that based on a tip from a member of the public, the police detained a 28-year-old man outside a residence in Changlun at approximately 11.15pm.
Upon inspection of the man’s bag, the police team discovered eight transparent plastic packets containing drugs.
“After the arrest, the team apprehended the man’s 20-year-old wife who was inside a car parked in front of an eatery in Changlun. The police also seized the car and jewelry valued at RM152,214,” he said during a press conference on Sunday (October 22).
The couple, who were employed as helpers at an eatery, tested positive for methamphetamine and will be detained until October 25 while the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama
