AMPANG: Police have arrested five men in connection with a robbery at a convenience store on Jalan Memanda. Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail stated that on October 18, two men entered the shop at around 7am. “One of the men was wearing a grey jacket and the other was wearing a black jacket and a face mask,” he said. “One of the suspects approached the cashier and requested a RM300 TNG ewallet top-up. However, one of the suspects grabbed the top-up without paying before both of them fled the scene.” As they escaped in a car, one of the suspects unintentionally dropped a knife near the shop’s entrance. Acting on this evidence, the police apprehended five individuals between the ages of 18 and 40 on October 19. Upon their arrest, authorities seized clothing, a knife, a mobile phone, and a face mask. ACP Mohd Azam disclosed that four of the suspects had previous criminal records. Investigations also revealed that all of the suspects were linked to multiple robberies targeting convenience stores in Ampang, Kajang, and Cheras. “The suspects will be held in custody until October 26,” he added.
