Four individuals have been apprehended in relation to a series of auto thefts in Kuala Lumpur and Serdang.
City police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid stated that a team from Sentul CID’s D4 division conducted a raid on a workshop in Klang on September 18th, leading to the arrest of three Myanmar nationals and one local man.
“During the raid, authorities also confiscated 15 engine blocks and four car chassis, with an estimated value of at least RM83,000,” he said.
“Our investigations have revealed that the syndicate was organized by a 42-year-old local man with a previous record of vehicle theft,” he told reporters on Thursday.
He stated that the vehicles were stolen and then dismantled for their parts.
“Further investigations unveiled that the engines were sold for prices ranging between RM5,000 and RM7,000 each.
None of the arrested foreigners or the workshop operator have previous criminal records,” he added, mentioning that the authorities have linked at least 15 vehicle theft cases to this syndicate.
In Sentul alone, five cases were reported, along with three in Cheras, two in Wangsa Maju, and one in Brickfields, while four additional cases were reported in Serdang.
“We are currently searching for an individual named ‘Liew Chin Kang’ to assist in the investigation of the syndicate. His known address is 12, Jalan 4/2A, Taman Wilayah Selayang, Batu Caves.
“We believe this person can provide further insight into the syndicate’s operations,” he stated, and confirmed that the four suspects have been transferred to Serdang police for further investigation.
Comm Allaudeen urged anyone with information about the suspect to contact the Sentul police headquarters operations room at 03-4048 2222.
