In Petaling Jaya, a man was arrested by the police for allegedly disrespecting religious sensitivities in connection with the sock controversy at KK Super Mart.
The Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain announced in a statement on Thursday (March 21) that the arrest was made of a 35-year-old Facebook user on Wednesday (March 20).
“The police have confirmed the arrest of the local man for investigations into a post about the sale of socks with the word Allah in a KK Super Mart that insulted Islam,” he said.
The suspect has been remanded until March 24, according to the statement.
The police have advised the public to act responsibly on social media and refrain from making statements that could disrupt public harmony and peace, particularly on issues related to the 3R (ruler, religion, race).
