In Seremban, a man was arrested at a house in Bandar Sunggala, Port Dickson, on Tuesday by the police to assist in the investigation of the neglect of a three-year-old girl that tragically resulted in her death.
The Port Dickson district police chief, Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed, mentioned that they received a report from the Port Dickson hospital on Sunday (March 24) stating that the victim was in critical condition after falling from a vehicle.
According to Aidi Sham, initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred at 8.30 pm on March 15, when the suspect, believed to be the boyfriend of the victim’s 38-year-old mother, tried to open the van’s door while they were stopped in front of a shop on their way from Taman Anggerik to Taman Mayung, Telok Kemang.
He added, “The child suffered bruises on various parts of her body and was declared dead at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital at 6.04 pm on March 26.”
The suspect, who tested negative for drugs, has three prior criminal cases on his record, according to Aidi Sham. The suspect has been remanded for six days until April 1 for investigation under Section 31 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2001.
