KUALA LUMPUR: The Bukit Aman CID conducted a raid on four nightspots in Kompleks Wilayah that were known for featuring striptease acts. These entertainment outlets were found to have provocative dances and striptease acts targeting mainly Bangladesh and Pakistan nationals. The raid took place at 2.50am on Sunday and was carried out by the Bukit Aman CID anti-trafficking in persons and anti-smuggling of migrants division (D3), following prior information about ongoing illegal activities at the complex that had been happening for about a year.
The objective of the operation conducted by Bukit Aman D3 principal assistant director Senior Asst Comm Fadil Marsus was primarily to identify victims of human trafficking within these establishments. “We inspected a total of 71 foreign men and eight local men who were identified as customers of these outlets, in addition to 34 women who were working as guest relation officers and dancers,” SAC Fadil said. He further mentioned that 37 individuals were detained due to the violation of immigration rules and regulations.
SAC Fadil highlighted that these outlets operated from 7pm to 7am, with customers throwing money at the dancers on stage. Depending on the amount of money thrown, the dancers would proceed to take off some clothes to please the customers. During the raids conducted by The Star, it was observed that cash and tokens were being thrown at the dancers on stage. The customers were required to purchase tokens, which were in the form of counterfeit RM50 notes, for this purpose. Two managers and a worker, all from Bangladesh, were among those detained during the raid.
The customers, consisting of 33 Bangladeshi men and one Pakistani man, were also detained under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act.
