PETALING JAYA: The statements of local rapper Caprice and Indonesian social media influencer Mondy have been recorded by the police in connection with a video that allegedly defamed celebrity preacher Ebit Lew. The recordings took place at the Selangor police headquarters on Tuesday (Sept 19), according to Subang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Fairus Jaafar. He stated on Wednesday (Sept 20) that several other witnesses will be called in to assist with the ongoing investigation.
According to reports, the police will be summoning an Indonesian social media influencer and a local rapper to aid in the investigation of a video that allegedly defamed Ebit Lew. The case was recently assigned to the police for investigation, as revealed by Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk S. Sasikala Devi on Tuesday. She stated that the case has been classified under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for misuse of networking facilities.
A few days prior, the Indonesian social media influencer accused Lew of inappropriate behavior towards her. In June, Lew had provided her with financial assistance. On Monday (Sept 18) at 2.17am, Lew lodged a report, claiming that he had been the subject of defamation in a video that was circulated on social media.
Subang Jaya Deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Fairus was quoted stating that the video in question had gained 225,177 views, along with 2,600 likes and 2,800 comments.
