Police in George Town seized a total of 50 motorcycles during a three-hour roadblock operation in Bayan Lepas on Sunday (Nov 26).
Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal, the southwest district police chief, stated that the roadblock on Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway in Bayan Lepas started at 2am and ran until 5am.
He indicated that 50 motorcycles were seized under Section 61(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and that one motorcycle is being investigated under Section 108 of the same Act for having a false registration number.
The operation was a joint effort between police and the Road Transport Department (JPJ), involving 20 policemen and 15 JPJ officers.
