KUALA KANGSAR: According to the Federal Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director, drugs with a street value of RM2.57 million were found in a car in this area. Comm Datuk Khaw Kok Chin stated that the drugs were confiscated in an operation carried out on Saturday (March 16), resulting in the arrest of a 31-year-old wireman and a 33-year-old factory operator.

When the two suspects exited the vehicle, a search of the car’s trunk led to the discovery of three black bags. The first two bags contained 17 packets of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, while the third bag contained 16 packets of the same drug.

“A total of 51,501 grams of the drugs, which were brought in from a neighboring state, were seized during this operation,” Comm Khaw announced during a press conference held at the Kuala Kangsar Police District headquarters on Sunday (March 17).

Comm Khaw further mentioned that a car valued at RM53,000 and belonging to the father of the 31-year-old suspect was also confiscated as part of the operation. Both suspects reportedly tested positive for methamphetamine, with the 33-year-old suspect having prior drug-related offenses on his criminal record. The suspects have been remanded until March 23 for further investigation.

The NCID director disclosed that the seized drugs were intended for distribution in Kuala Kangsar and various areas in Perak. “This syndicate has been active since December last year, and the quantity of drugs seized could potentially serve 500,000 drug addicts,” Comm Khaw shared.

The case is currently under investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, pertaining to drug trafficking offenses.
