BATU PAHAT: The police recently conducted an inspection at a factory that supplied socks to the convenience store chain KK Super Mart. Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah led a team of 40 policemen who checked Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd in Batu Pahat on Tuesday (March 19).
During the inspection, they confiscated five pairs of socks with the word Allah printed on them. These socks were returned by KK Super Mart Bandar Sunway in Selangor.
The factory revealed that they had bought 16 sacks of socks, totaling 18,800 pairs, from China. After repacking them, they distributed the socks to the market.
According to ACP Ismail, all the checked goods did not have the word Allah except for the five pairs they seized.
He mentioned that only three branches of KK Super Mart in Selangor were found selling the controversial socks.
The authorities are currently investigating the case under different sections of the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
ACP Ismail also warned the public and organizations against participating in any activities that could disrupt public harmony in relation to this issue.
He emphasized that legal actions will be taken against those who engage in unlawful actions.
Following the controversy, KK Super Mart founder Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai issued a public apology on Saturday, stating that the socks were sold on a consignment basis.
