KUALA KUBU BARU: A drug distribution ring in Bukit Beruntung was taken down by the police after they confiscated more than 15kg of ganja. Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Ahmad Faizal Tahrim stated that a team from the Hulu Selangor Narcotic Crime Investigation Department arrested a 36-year-old sundry shop operator at the parking lot of an apartment in Bukit Beruntung at around 6pm on Thursday (Feb 8).
They discovered 24 plastic packets containing 14kg of compressed dried leaves believed to be ganja after checking the car. On the same day, police arrested three other men, including a foreigner aged 35 to 61, near a restaurant at Bukit Sentosa. One of the suspects was found to have three grams of ganja on him, and an air gun and a magazine were found in the pickup truck of another suspect.
One of the suspects led the police to a storage unit at the apartment in Bukit Beruntung where two 1.28kg packets of the same drugs were discovered. It was revealed that the drugs originated from a neighboring country, and the police believe the syndicate was involved in drug distribution activities at Bukit Beruntung and the surrounding districts.
One of the suspects tested positive for drugs and all four suspects have been remanded for seven days to aid with further investigations. The 15.28kg of drugs confiscated was estimated to be worth RM43,710. In addition to the drugs, the police also seized a pickup truck, a car and a motorcycle.
