PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested six men who are believed to have committed a total of 16 house and school break-ins in the district.

Deputy OCPD Supt M. Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly stated that the first incident was a house break-in at Damansara Damai at approximately 8:18pm on Dec 14.

“A 33-year-old was detained for the offence on Dec 14. We also managed to recover the stolen items,” he said in a statement on Friday (Dec 22).

The suspect has prior records for criminal and drug-related offences, he said. “He also tested positive for methamphetamine,” he added.

In the second case, another house break-in was reported in Seksyen 17 at about 11:47pm on Dec 10, he said. “The district police task force managed to arrest three men aged between 37 and 40 at Seksyen 14 on Dec 13. We believe they were responsible for at least several break-ins in the district with losses worth RM146,000,” he said. He added that the stolen items from the latest case were recovered.

The third case involved a school break-in at Jalan Changgai on Nov 17, Supt Hussin said. “We detained two men at Desa Mentari on Dec 11, while another is still at large. Both of them had prior criminal records,” he said. He said the suspects were believed to be responsible for several school break-in cases in the district.

Supt Hussin said that with the three robbery gangs busted, police have managed to solve 16 break-in cases that occurred between July and December. “We urge those with information on any criminal incidents to contact the Petaling Jaya police at 03-79662222 or any nearest police station,” he said.
