KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded a statement from the organiser of a protest held in front of the United States Embassy on Monday (Sept 30), as well as from six others.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said police expect to complete the investigation on the protest by this week.

“We will then refer the investigation paper to the deputy public prosecutor.

“The case is being investigated under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012,” he told reporters at KL police headquarters on Wednesday (Oct 2).

Comm Rusdi said the organisers did not submit any notice to the police and did not obtain permission from the owner of the premises.

“Those who want to hold any rally must follow rules and regulations under the Peaceful Assembly Act,” he said.

On Monday, a rally attended by seven people was held in front of the embassy to protest the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
