Despite exhausting all leads in the investigation of the murder of autistic child Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, the Federal CID has pledged to continue pursuing the case, according to Federal CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Suhaily Mohd Zain.
Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Suhaily Mohd Zain stated, “My officers, like the general public, have been emotionally impacted by the case, but they remain very motivated. Even today, they are still in the field, under the leadership of the Selangor police chief, processing everything.”
Bukit Aman is pressing ahead with their efforts to seek justice for the boy and his family. The police are currently triangulating all the findings of the investigation in order to find the next clue. “As far as the forensics department is concerned, we have exhausted all alternatives,” Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Suhaily Mohd Zain said.
Zayn Rayyan, aged six, was initially reported missing on December 5, 2023. His body was later discovered the following night in a river near his home at Idaman Apartment in Petaling Jaya. So far, police have recorded the statements from 225 people and collected 248 DNA samples from residents and other individuals.
Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Suhaily Mohd Zain expressed his appreciation to the community for providing input. “We also evaluated this information as it gave us some public perspective that we think is worth looking into,” he said. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain stated on Tuesday that police had yet to uncover the motive for the murder.
