    TWO migrant workers from Tamil Nadu received their five months of back pay and overtime pay after having their case heard at the labour court, Malaysia Nanban reported. Ragavan, 23, and Kaliappan, 40, who worked at a restaurant in Skudai, Johor, lodged a police report over their unpaid wages with the help of the Malaysia Ulaga Manitha Neya Iyakkam NGO. Iyakkam president T. Kamalanathan said they also filed a claim against their employer at the labour court. After the case was mediated, their employer paid the workers their outstanding wages and they returned home to Trichy, he said.

    Perak exco member and Sungkai assemblyman A. Sivanesan was disappointed by the poor turnout from the Tamil school coordinator and headmasters at a meeting to discuss their problems, Malaysia Nanban reported. Sivanesan had chaired a special meeting with Indian community leaders which was held in Hutan Melintang on Sunday. A group of 92 leaders including assemblywoman Wasanthee Sinnasamy and a handful of headmasters attended the meeting.
