PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry and the Education Ministry should establish a set of pandemic prevention guidelines as the number of Covid-19 cases in the country continues to rise, according to MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon (pic). He said these guidelines would help schools be prepared to prevent and curtail the spread of Covid-19 when the new school term begins.

Dr Mah pointed out that with the recent surge in Covid-19 cases, schools have become a focus of attention. He hopes that updated guidelines will prevent schools from becoming hot spot areas for the virus.

MCA urges the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ministry of Education (MoE) to establish pandemic prevention guidelines to assist schools in preventing the spread of the coronavirus when the new school term resumes. This is to safeguard the health of students and staff in light of the growing number of Covid-19 cases.

The MoH should pay close attention to the possible development of Covid-19 clusters at schools and provide detailed pandemic prevention guidelines to schools, parents, students, and canteen operators through the MoE. This is to alert the public and create awareness to stem the spread of Covid-19.

MCA also urges the MoE to provide thermometers, masks, and disinfectants to schools and canteen operators, as well as advice on the administration of booster vaccines for staff and students. The organization also recommends that the MoH assist with the disinfection process and cleaning of public areas, classrooms, and other places frequented by students and staff.

It is important for all segments of society to be prepared for the resurgence of Covid-19 around the world. This requires formulating various preventive measures and executing every effort in detail on pandemic prevention preparations to effectively respond to the challenge of the Covid-19’s spread and avoid Malaysia being affected by the pandemic once again, said Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, Deputy President of MCA.
