KUCHING: Since Tuesday afternoon, a crowd has gathered near a hotel here in hopes of catching a glimpse of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. The royal couple is expected to arrive in Kuching later Tuesday evening as part of their “Kembara Kenali Borneo” tour.

Dayang Faseeha Abang Hamdan and her friends have been waiting since 2pm, taking a half-day off work to see Their Majesties in person. Dayang expressed their willingness to wait as long as necessary for this opportunity, as it would be their first time seeing the royal couple firsthand. They even prepared placards with messages such as “Sarawak di hatiku” (Sarawak in my heart) and “Daulat Tuanku” to express their support and gratitude.

Dayang Faseeha expressed hope that Their Majesties would acknowledge their presence by waving, an act that would bring them immense joy and gratitude. Additionally, they believe that the royal visit will have positive impacts on the economy and development of both states.

Artist Manado @ Othman Mohammad aspired to present a portrait he had painted of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to His Majesty. Determined to finish it upon learning of the king’s visit to their location, Manado, president of AkarSeni, completed the portrait in two days using pastel colors.

The King and Queen initiated their tour in Tawau, Sabah, on September 3 with the aim of familiarizing themselves with the Malaysians residing in Sabah and Sarawak. Their journey will conclude at Telok Melano on Wednesday, covering a total distance of 2,154km on the Pan Borneo Highway.
