KUALA LUMPUR: A crowd waiting at the Sogo shopping complex has joined forces with the group that had marched from Kg Baru.
The organisers of the rally were seen energising the crowd by leading chants demanding the prosecution of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The organisers stated, “We will lodge a police report against Ahmad Zahid to reopen investigations.”
Ahmad Zahid had been granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal for all 47 corruption charges involving Yayasan Akalbudi funds by the High Court. This came after Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar requested for the charges against Zahid to be dropped at the beginning of the hearings on September 4.
According to a statement by Ahmad Zahid’s legal team, this decision was made after the Attorney General’s Chambers accepted a letter from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) requesting a review of the charges against Ahmad Zahid on February 20, 2023.
