PETALING JAYA: Cuepacs said it acknowledges and seriously views the warning by the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) that certain enforcement agencies are still ‘keeping’ problematic and corrupted officers.
It said in this case Cuepacs is on the same page with EAIC, where any heads of department who do not take action against such staff is committing an offence.
“The Prime Minister himself has recommended that heads of department will not be promoted if there were malpractices and issues of integrity involving the department or unit or no action taken or reported,” said Cuepacs president Datuk Dr Adnan Mat (pic) in a statement on Friday (June 14).
“While Cuepacs views the issue seriously it is confident that it only involved a small group of heads of department who do not care about the abuse of power and corruption among their staff,” he added.
Dr Adnan said action can be taken against any civil servant with punishment such as warning, fine, forfeiture of emoluments, deferred salary, lower pay grade, demotions and sacking if found to have broken any regulations which are in force.
“Leaders must be bold to take action and keep away from unethical behaviours in the civil service.
“If heads of department have the power to take action and carry out their responsibilities effectively, the organisation will be more competent and progressive.
Dr Adnan said wrongdoing in the civil service must be prevented, including hiding or letting such behaviours continue.
