Dr Ahmad Sani Abdul Alim Araby, the chief executive officer of Malaysia Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (Mapim), is determined to continue MAPIM’s humanitarian mission for Palestinians in Gaza, despite facing attacks from the Zionist regime that he described as the worst he has ever witnessed.
Ahmad Sani stated that there has been extensive death and destruction in Gaza, which he referred to as apocalyptic due to Israeli attacks, conducted with blatant disregard of United Nations resolutions.
“They don’t care about the resolutions and what really makes us frustrated is when schools with the UN emblem are also bombed. Hospitals built by other countries like Qatar and Indonesia are also bombed and we seem to be out of options to do something,” he told Bernama at Wisma MAPIM.
He added that almost 11,000 people have been killed, with around 4,000 of them being children, in the 35 days of Israeli attacks.
Ahmad Sani also mentioned that Mapim remains dedicated to helping the Palestinians, stating that they have constructed nine mosques and supplied 10 ambulances to Gaza so far. Unfortunately, two of those mosques were destroyed and three ambulances are unaccounted for due to the attacks.
Mapim also plans to hold the Malaysian Artists to Defend Palestine Gathering on Dec 2 in Shah Alam Selangor, he said.
“The gathering will call for an immediate halt to the war against Palestine, and we invite artists with large followings to join us as we need them, with their sincerity, to be a magnet and deliver the message to their followers,” Ahmad Sani said.
The Mapim is also seeking the cooperation of Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari to jointly organize the gathering so that it will have a greater response.
Mapim will launch the Palestine Emergency Fund to help Palestinians in Gaza in conjunction with the gathering, he added. – Bernama
