In an effort to bolster national cybersecurity, the Cyber Security Bill 2024 has been presented for its first reading in Parliament in Kuala Lumpur.
Initiated by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo on Monday (March 25), the Bill is scheduled for further discussion during the current Dewan Rakyat meeting.
The main objective of the Bill is to elevate national cybersecurity by enforcing specific measures and standards, as well as addressing the management process of cybersecurity incidents involving critical national information infrastructure.
Moreover, the Bill encompasses the establishment of a National Cyber Security Committee, the responsibilities and authority of the National Cyber Security Agency chief executive officer, and the licensing of cybersecurity service providers, among other provisions.
