KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) has denied allegations that Tun Daim Zainuddin had contributed funds to the party.
While acknowledging that Toh Puan Na’imah Abdul Khalid, Daim’s wife, is a member of Muda, the party’s acting president, Amira Aisya Abd Aziz, strongly refuted the claim that the businessman was Muda’s primary financial supporter.
As per Sinar Harian, she stated that Muda has stringent regulations on funding and does not accept large sums from donors.
Amira mentioned that the party’s policy only allows for a maximum contribution of RM200,000 at any given time.

Addressing the issue at a press conference following a forum at a college in Kuala Lumpur, she emphasized that without laws regulating political funding, any contributions received by Muda should not be called into question.
In regards to a photo of herself and Na’imah circulating on social media during the latter’s court appearance for failing to declare her assets with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Amira admitted that she was present at court to show support for Daim’s wife.
“Yes, Na’imah is a Muda member. I can show up in court to show support for any party member. She is my friend too. Just because I was in court, it does not mean I was there to ask the judge to drop the charges,” she stated.
