About 400 individuals gathered in front of Masjid Kg Baru, holding placards of ‘Dakwa Zahid” or “Prosecute Zahid”.
They expressed their sentiments by shouting “takbir”,” Allahuakbar” and “Reformasi” to passing cars while some organizers stood on a lorry, delivering speeches.
Former Umno Putrajaya deputy chief, Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, clarified that the gathering was not a rally but merely an opportunity for them to voice their opinions.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal for all 47 graft charges associated with Yayasan Akalbudi funds by the High Court.
The charges against Zahid were dropped after Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar made an application for dismissal during the initial hearings on September 4.
According to a statement from Zahid’s lawyers, the Attorney General’s Chambers accepted a letter from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) requesting a review of the charges against Ahmad Zahid on February 20, 2023.
