KUALA LUMPUR: Three DAP MPs criticized Siti Mastura Muhammad (PN-Kepala Batas) for her recent remarks accusing DAP leaders of being related to communist leaders like Chin Peng. During the debate on the National Unity Ministry’s Budget 2024 allocations on Tuesday (Nov 7), Teresa Kok (PH-Seputeh) interrupted Siti Mastura and demanded an explanation for the slanderous remarks made against DAP and herself. Siti Mastura, however, ignored Kok’s interjection and continued with her speech. Wong Shu Qi (PH-Kluang) then stood up and asked Siti Mastura for an explanation, accusing her of lying and challenging her to provide proof. Syerleena Abdul Rashid (PH-Bukit Bendera) also tried to interject, but Siti Mastura ignored all three DAP MPs and continued speaking loudly. Syahredzan Johan (PH-Bangi) then challenged Siti Mastura to repeat her statement in the House, calling her actions embarrassing for practicing old politics.
Siti Mastura had claimed that DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng had blood ties to Chin Peng. In a viral video, she also connected Guan Eng, his wife Betty Chew Gek Cheng, and other DAP leaders such as Anthony Loke, Kok, Nga Kor Ming, and Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham. She further alleged that DAP stalwart Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang was a cousin of former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. These claims were reportedly made during an election campaign for the Kemaman by-election. Frustrated by the situation, Tan Sri Johari Abdul sarcastically invited the MPs to continue speaking, stating that the people were watching.
During the subsequent order of business, Rodziah Ismail (PH-Ampang) advised Siti Mastura not to accuse others without being sure of the information. She emphasized that Islam is a religion of unity. In a press conference, Lim Guan Eng challenged Siti Mastura to provide evidence of his blood ties to Chin Peng within 48 hours. When approached for further comment in Parliament, Siti Mastura chose not to respond, stating that she would not engage with unfactual matters.
