In the Dewan Rakyat meeting on Thursday (March 14), various important issues were discussed, including the controversy surrounding dates imported from Israel, the Madani Kampus Semarak programme, and egg subsidies.

One key point of discussion was brought up by Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu), who questioned the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister about the actions taken following the discovery of dates from Israel being brought into Malaysia, despite the country’s stance on boycotting Israeli products.

Another topic addressed was the Madani Kampus Semarak programme, with Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa (BN-Tampin) inquiring about its purpose and implementation status, as well as its benefits for stakeholders, especially students.

During the question-and-answer session, Sim Tze Tzin (PH-Bayan Baru) asked the Agriculture and Food Security Minister about the impact of removing subsidies and price controls on chicken meat prices and availability in the market, as well as the continuation of subsidies for different grades of eggs.

Mohd Hasnizan Harun (PN-Hulu Selangor) questioned the Public Works Minister about the ministry’s plans to address road repair issues, particularly the prevalent use of tarring instead of patching on roads across the country.

Following the session, there was a discussion on the winding up of the Motion of Thanks for the Royal Address by various ministries, including the Health Ministry, Digital Ministry, Plantation and Commodities Ministry, Human Resources Ministry, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, and the Prime Minister’s Department.

The First Meeting of the Third Term of the 15th Parliament is scheduled to last for 19 days until March 27, with 160 MPs debating the Motion of Thanks for the Royal Address at the Dewan Rakyat sitting from February 27 to March 7. – Bernama
