Several roads in Kuala Lumpur will be closed for the Jalan Yew-Jalan Sungai Besi flyover widening project, according to an announcement by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). The construction works are expected to be completed by December 31, 2025.
The statement from DBKL outlined various traffic diversions and road closures. One of the affected areas is Jalan Sungai Besi near the Fraser Business Park, where the southbound lane towards Petaling Jaya will be closed in stages from September 30 to September 29, 2024.
The diversions include:
a) Traffic from Kg Pandan Roundabout heading to Sungai Besi/Petaling Jaya will be diverted into two parts: one route passing alongside Federal Bakery, and another entering the opposite lane alongside.
b) Traffic from Sungai Besi/Petaling Jaya heading to Kg Pandan Roundabout will be divided into two: one will take a left at Loke Yew Roundabout, and the other will continue on the same route.
c) Loke Yew Roundabout will be closed, and traffic on Jalan Loke Yew from Cheras will only be allowed to make a U-turn heading back to Cheras. Alternate routes are available from Cheras to Jalan Sg Besi via Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua, and Jalan Tiga. Traffic from Cheras heading to Jalan Yew should use the U-turn at the Maharajalela fly-over intersection.
d) Loke Yew Roundabout will be closed, and traffic on Jalan Loke Yew from Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Sungai Besi will be rerouted to Jalan Yew heading towards Pudu Roundabout only. The alternative route is via the U-turn at SMK (P) Pudu.
e) Loke Yew Roundabout will be closed, and traffic on Jalan Yew from Kg Pandan Roundabout heading to Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Kuching will be closed during the construction period. Alternate routes are through Jalan Kg Pandan, Jalan Imbi, and Jalan Hang Tuah.
f) For the demolition of the service road ramp and bridge reconstruction at Pudu Roundabout heading to Jalan Sungai Besi (beside Pudu Police Station), the service road from Jalan Pudu to Jalan Yew will be closed to all traffic. Alternate routes are available through Jalan Sg. Besi, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Satu, Jalan Dua, and Jalan Tiga.
