In an effort to combat repeated offences regarding various obstructions, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) seized the wheels of 25 motorcycles in the city centre on Thursday (Sept 14).

DBKL enforcement officers and traffic wardens conducted operations at several hotspots in the city centre to apprehend offenders. The targeted areas included Jalan Ampang, Jalan P. Ramlee, and Persiaran KLCC. As a result, a total of 35 compound notices were issued and 25 motorcycles were impounded at the city vehicles depot in Jalan Pahang.

An officer from DBKL stated that the offenders had violated various laws, including The Road Transport Act 1987 and the Road Traffic Rules 1959. Specifically, the motorcycles were parked on pedestrian walkways and tactile blocks.

The DBKL officer explained, “This is part of our standard enforcement exercise that we conduct regularly in hotspots. We want to remind people that we are present and vigilant, so please adhere to the rules.”

After a netizen shared a video of the enforcement exercise on social media, it quickly went viral. This sparked an overwhelming response from the public, who commended DBKL for their effective actions. Many city residents called on the local authority to extend similar enforcement efforts to their areas.

DBKL’s efforts to address motorcycle parking violations in the city centre have been well-received, demonstrating the public’s support for enforcing traffic regulations and ensuring pedestrian safety.

The recent confiscation of motorcycle wheels serves as a stern warning to potential offenders and a reminder for motorcycle owners to park their vehicles in designated areas, following the established laws and regulations.

DBKL’s commitment to maintaining order in the city centre through consistent enforcement exercises helps to instill a greater sense of discipline among road users and contributes to a safer and more organized urban environment.

By regularly conducting such operations, DBKL aims to create awareness among the public, encouraging them to prioritize compliance with traffic rules and regulations at all times.

Overall, DBKL’s decisive actions and the positive response from the public highlight the significance of maintaining strict enforcement to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and the well-being of pedestrians.
