On Wednesday (Aug 23), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) conducted an operation to inspect business premises operated by foreigners without proper permits and licenses. As a result, 18 out of 25 premises were sealed for operating illegally. The operation took place in eight hotspots across the capital including Jalan Kuchai Lama, Jalan Pantai Dalam, Taman Melati Gombak, Jalan Pudu Cheras, Jalan Jinjan, Taman Fadason Kepong, Jalan Desa Tasik, and Pekan Sungai Besi.
According to a statement on Facebook by DBKL, the sealed premises consisted of car washes, sundry shops, barbershops, eateries, phone accessory shops, and clothing stores. The authority also issued 17 compound notices for hiring foreigners without work permits and conducting business without a license from DBKL. In addition, goods from two premises operated by Myanmar and Bangladesh nationals were confiscated during the operation.
The seized items, including a water jet, snow soap and water pumps, vacuum machines, generators, and chairs, were transported to DBKL’s storage facility in Cheras. DBKL asserted that enforcement actions will continue to be carried out in all 11 parliamentary constituencies within Kuala Lumpur. To support these efforts, the public can report information through the ADU@KL portal or by visiting adukl.dbkl.gov.my.
