According to Seremban OCPD Asst Com Arifai Tarawe, a 22-year-old food delivery rider in Seremban filed a false report claiming that he was robbed of RM9,000 by four men near a temple in Rantau. However, upon investigation, it was revealed that the robbery did not occur and the rider only wanted to postpone his wedding because he lacked the necessary funds. As a result, the rider will be investigated for lodging a false report. ACP Arifai stated that the rider has no previous criminal or drug-related charges. This case falls under Section 182 of the Penal Code, which could result in a jail term of up to six months or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both if convicted.

In a separate incident, a 39-year-old contractor lodged a false report claiming that he was robbed by two men in front of the Permai food court in Seremban. The report stated that the contractor lost valuables and his identity card during the alleged incident. However, after further investigation, the man confessed that the robbery did not take place, and he had filed the false report to avoid paying a fine to obtain a new identity card. It was also discovered that the contractor had previously filed four reports related to the loss of his identity card. Additionally, a urine test confirmed that the man had abused methamphetamine.

Similar to the first case, this incident is being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code, which carries a potential punishment of up to six months in jail or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both. Both cases highlight the consequences individuals may face for filing false reports. These actions not only waste valuable police resources but also constitute a criminal offense.
