A leader from the Negri Sembilan Perikatan Nasional has come forward claiming that he was with Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu in Seremban on the morning of the alleged sexual harassment incident in Kuala Lumpur.
Gary Lee, the deputy chief of Negri Perikatan, stated that he was with Ahmad Faizal at a hotel in Seremban at around 10.30 am on July 24.
Citing his presence with Ahmad Faizal, Lee said, “I first met his officer, Ab Rahim, and his bodyguard Maran before going up to his room. My meeting with Ahmad Faizal lasted an hour till around 11.30 am.” The purpose of the meeting, according to Lee, was to discuss preparations for the state polls.
It is worth noting that the woman who made the initial police report accusing Ahmad Faizal of sexual harassment has since withdrawn her statement. In her report, she alleged that on July 24, she was walking to an office in Plaza Damas, Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur around 11 am when a man she believed to be Ahmad Faizal harassed her. In response, Ahmad Faizal labeled the report as defamatory and lodged a counter police report against the woman.
The withdrawal of the report initiated an inquiry paper by the police to determine if any crime had been committed. Despite the withdrawal, Ahmad Faizal’s claim that he was in Seremban for a meeting at the time of the incident remains under investigation.
Police authorities in Brickfields have confirmed that the woman withdrew her report on August 3, the same day it was lodged. However, the investigation continues to assess the veracity of the allegations and determine if there were any criminal actions involved.
