IPOH: Malaysia’s Deputy Inspector-General of Police, comm Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, assured the public that there is no need to worry about their safety despite the ongoing Palestine-Israel conflict. He stated that the police are consistently carrying out intelligence and monitoring activities to ensure a secure environment.
Comm Ayob Khan emphasized that the police force is constantly enhancing and establishing monitoring efforts to strengthen security measures in the country. He mentioned the potential risk of foreigners becoming targets by certain parties due to their dissatisfaction with the situation in Palestine.
Addressing reporters at the event, Comm Ayob Khan reassured the public that the police are continuously improving control and monitoring systems to prevent any security threats. He also highlighted the police’s ability to detect and address national security issues at an early stage.
During the event, Comm Ayob Khan spoke about the police’s successful intervention in preventing potential attacks related to the Islamic State, expressing confidence in the police force’s capabilities to address security concerns.
Regarding the ongoing investigation into former Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng, Comm Ayob Khan mentioned Ng’s cooperation with the police. He stated that the investigation is still ongoing, with a focus on tracing possible assets related to the case.
Comm Ayob Khan discussed the anticipated timeline for the use of body cameras on police personnel, revealing that it is expected to be implemented next year. He mentioned that over 100 local companies have submitted tenders for the cameras, which will include all necessary gadgets.
He provided information about the allocation of RM30mil for the cameras, approved under the 12th Malaysian Plan in 2021, and the final selection process for eligible companies to provide the equipment.
