PETALING JAYA: V. Sivakumar announced that details regarding the approved foreign worker applications for recruitment in the barbershop, textiles, and goldsmiths’ sectors will be discussed in the upcoming Cabinet meeting on Friday (Sept 8).

“If there is more information, it will be announced later,” said the Human Resources Minister during a press conference after the National Training Index (NTI) event on Tuesday (Sept 5).

Developed by the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), the NTI was the host of the event.

When asked if an announcement could be expected immediately after the meeting, Sivakumar responded with “hopefully”.

On Monday (Sept 4), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim approved a portion of the foreign worker applications in the three sectors, with the condition that employers must also provide training to local youths to fill the job vacancies.
