PUTRAJAYA: The digital economy sector is crucial for the success of the Madani Economy framework, according to Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil. He mentioned this during the ministry’s monthly assembly on July 31. Fahmi emphasized that the digital economy is one of the main drivers of economic growth in Malaysia. He highlighted the significant investment in the country’s digital economy, which witnessed a growth of almost RM24 billion between January to June this year, compared to RM7.5 billion during the same period last year. Fahmi also shared that there would be further announcements regarding investments in the digital economy sector.
Fahmi stressed that the digital economy sector holds immense importance. He referred to the prime minister’s emphasis on digitalization, connectivity, and addressing fundamental issues in order to enhance the people’s quality of life. He underscored the significance of communication infrastructure, cybersecurity, and the digital economy, stating that they need to be improved to ensure the success of the digital economy sector.
The Madani Economy framework, announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 27, aims to boost Malaysia’s economy and benefit the people. It is designed to generate revenue that will positively impact citizens, enabling them to enjoy a better quality of life. Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, described the Madani Economy initiative as a comprehensive plan to address various challenges and issues affecting Malaysia’s competitiveness and investment attractiveness. The plan outlines actions to resolve current problems that impact people’s lives.
Fahmi further emphasized that Malaysia recognizes the digital economy and renewable energy as the driving forces of economic growth. He stated that the success of the Madani Economy framework is crucial for bringing about positive changes in the country’s development.
