The investigation into the hacking of two digital menu boards at fast food restaurants in Kuala Langat has been completed, according to Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

The Selangor police chief stated that the investigation paper will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office, along with a recommendation to charge the two suspects who were detained last week.

“The two individuals, who were held in custody for four days from Thursday (Nov 2) to Sunday (Nov 5), have now been released on bail,” he said during a press conference held at the Selangor police headquarters on Tuesday (Nov 7).

On October 31, a manager of a fast-food restaurant filed a police report stating that the establishment’s digital menu board had been hacked, displaying images of food with blood, bombs, bullets, and the phrase “Proud Sponsors of Israeli Terrorism.”

The two suspects, both 26 years old, were apprehended in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur. The case was investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

In other news, Hussein announced that the police will step up patrols in flood-prone areas where residents have been relocated to temporary relief centers in order to prevent house burglaries.

“We want to ensure affected residents that there will be intensified security patrols in the flooded areas to deter criminal activities, such as break-ins,” he stated.

As of Tuesday morning, there were 673 flood victims from 170 families, compared to 547 victims from 144 families the previous night. These individuals come from Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, Sepang, Kajang, and Subang Jaya, and are currently sheltered in relief centers, added Hussein. – Bernama
