An elderly woman was fatally injured and another woman was wounded when a vehicle collided with a restaurant in Taman Meranti, Bahau, near Seremban.
Jempol district police chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook stated that Tan Joo Lan, aged 75, was dining at the restaurant when the incident occurred at 8.50am on Friday (Nov 24).
He mentioned that Tan Joo Lan suffered severe neck injuries and was declared deceased at the scene of the accident.
A 35-year-old woman sustained minor injuries and was transported to Jempol Hospital for treatment.
“A 78-year-old man was attempting to park his car in front of the shop but accidentally pressed the accelerator, causing the vehicle to collide with the two women inside the restaurant,” he explained in a statement.
Supt Hoo further mentioned that the driver was brought to the Jempol district police headquarters for investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – Bernama
