The introduction of a discount card for eatery operators who provide Menu Rahmah meals will take place on Thursday (Nov 2), announced Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.
Armizan, the acting Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister, stated that the Rahmah discount cards will be given to restaurant and cafe operators that support the government’s initiative.
He added that the discount card can be obtained by relevant eatery operators from six selected supermarkets.
Before presenting his ministerial response on Budget 2024, Armizan acknowledged the late domestic trade and cost of living minister, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who initiated the Rahmah program to offer affordable meals.
Armizan expressed his awareness of the responsibility he temporarily holds and emphasized the significant role played by Salahuddin.
“Although I am handling this responsibility temporarily, I have big shoes to fill,” said Armizan.
He also witnessed Salahuddin’s strong dedication and commitment while they both served as Cabinet colleagues.
Armizan confirmed that Salahuddin’s vacant seat in the Dewan Rakyat remains unfilled, but assured that his legacy, built upon the core value of ‘Rahmah’, will persist as the ministry’s commitment and determination in fulfilling its responsibilities to the nation and its people.
Salahuddin, aged 61, suffered a brain haemorrhage on July 22 and passed away the following day.
