KUALA LUMPUR: An estimated 2,000 Gaza residents have sought refuge at a school in southern Gaza funded by Malaysians after their homes were destroyed by the Israeli regime, according to Aman Palestin Bhd general manager (marketing) Muhd Farhan Muhd Fadhil. The Malaysia Quran School, which began operations in 2018, is located in Khan Yunis.
Due to a warning issued by the Israeli military for Gaza residents to move to safer locations, many have fled to the south, including the school supported by Malaysian contributions. Muhd Farhan mentioned that this situation may continue for an extended period of time.
The displaced residents at the school are being provided with essential items such as food, tents, blankets, and mattresses. Aman Palestin staff, who are also local residents, are managing these provisions.
Muhd Farhan further stated that other development projects in Gaza, which were funded by Malaysians and managed by Aman Palestin, remain unaffected and intact amidst the recent clashes between Hamas and the Israeli regime. These projects include the Al-Qassam Mosque, the As-Syafie Mosque, the Sheikh Ajlin Mosque, and the Aman Palestin hospital currently under construction.
The ongoing conflict in Palestine since October 7 has resulted in the loss of numerous lives on both sides, involving Hamas, the ruling authority in Gaza, and the Israeli regime.
