In Kota Kinabalu, a Sabah Umno leader expressed his concern that leaders who exploit religious and racial sentiments are the root cause of disunity in the country. State Umno information chief Datuk Suhaimi Nasir condemned the actions of these leaders, stating that they were instigating chaos in a community that prides itself on diversity.
During an Iftar Ramadan programme in Sandakan, Datuk Suhaimi Nasir highlighted the detrimental impact of leaders manipulating sensitive issues, which ultimately lead to conflicts among different races within the country.
He emphasized that unity among the people would remain intact if leaders refrained from disrupting the shared harmony. “For matters concerning race, it is imperative for us as Sabahans to safeguard the peace and unity that we cherish in this state,” he remarked.
Addressing the need to prioritize solidarity over political affiliations, Suhaimi acknowledged that while Umno has its own set of supporters, it is crucial for all parties to set aside their differences in order to maintain the harmony among various races.
At the event, Suhaimi urged all Umno Libaran members and supporters to come together and collaborate in engaging with grassroots supporters and young voters in Libaran. He stressed the importance of fostering closer relationships and promoting inclusivity regardless of race or religion within the community.
